Plastic vs Resin

Resin is slightly more expensive than plastic, but you pay for what you get. You will find that your resin furniture lasts much longer than plastic. Over the long term, you will actually save money by purchasing one set of resin furniture rather than continuously replacing your plastic furniture.

How to clean resin furniture?

Resin furniture is made to be durable which means all you need is a hose with a spray attachment to clean any dirt off or it. You could also use some soapy water and a cloth to wipe down your dirty furniture.

Can you paint resin furniture?

If you want to paint your resin furniture just make sure you start with a clean surface. Use a bit of sandpaper to smooth any obvious rough patches. It will be necessary to prime your furniture first and apply two or three coats of paint.

Can I leave my synthetic rattan furniture out during the winter?

It depends on what materials your furniture is made from. If you buy your rattan furniture from us, then we can be confident in telling you to leave it outside for the winter months because all of our furniture is made with an aluminium frame which cannot rust and UV stabilized synthetic rattan which will not fade or become otherwise damaged.

If you have purchased your rattan furniture somewhere else it is possible that the materials used were not weatherproof and in this case you should store your rattan furniture inside during cold and wet times.

Can I buy replacement cushions for my rattan furniture set?

If your cushions are not found easily online, please contact us by email and we will look into ordering them for you directly from our supplier.

Can I leave cushions outside on my when it’s raining?

Due to the inferior quality of waterproof cushions we do not provide them with our furniture. Our cushions have a nicer feel and appearance, but they are not waterproof. We suggest storing your cushions inside to avoid damage and mould.

Do I need to cover my rattan furniture during the winter?

No, there is no need to cover your furniture in the rain or snow. However, we do advise storing the cushions when they are not being used.

Do I need to cover or protect the feet of my rattan furniture?

The feet of your rattan furniture can become damaged when moving it around. Scratches can make your furniture look less appealing, if you want to avoid this you could protect the feet on your furniture by applying a durable protective coating to the feet.

Do I need to store my rattan furniture cushions in the winter?

The cushions that come with our rattan furniture are not waterproof so we suggest storing cushions in the winter months so they do not become mouldy or damaged.

Is it possible to repair any broken strands of synthetic rattan?

It is fairly simple to fix a broken rattan strand. You will need to cover the broken strand with epoxy resin and leave it to harden for a full day. You may still want to paint the area to match the colour of your furniture. As always, make sure you use the resin and paint in a well-ventilated area.

What’s the best way to clean synthetic rattan garden furniture?

Synthetic rattan garden furniture is not difficult to clean. Use soapy water and a cloth or a jet washer to easily clean dirt and debris from your synthetic rattan furniture. If the cushions need to be cleaned, check the label and follow the instructions.

Do I need to cover my synthetic rattan furniture?

If your furniture is made with an aluminium frame that will not rust and UV stabilized rattan there is no need to cover your synthetic rattan furniture because it is 100% weatherproof.

Can I repair scratches on synthetic rattan furniture?

Similar to fixing a broken rattan strand, you can use the same epoxy resin and paint to cover scratch marks. The scratch will disappear if you paint with the resin, let it dry for a full day and then paint the area to match the colour of your furniture.

How can I restore synthetic rattan furniture?

If your synthetic rattan has become faded or damaged the following steps will help make it look brand new again.

• Stand a couple of feet away from your furniture and spray it with a jet washer to remove any dirt or mould that has become ingrained in the weave.
• Fill a container with hot soapy water.
• Use a clean cloth to wipe your furniture down.
• Use epoxy resin to cover any scratches or fix any broken strand of wicker. 
• Let your furniture dry outside for a full day.
• Blend the resin with a matching paint colour.
